How it all started

In the last 6 years, the number of leisure flights in Switzerland alone increased by 43%. Traveling is, without any question, one of the most inspiring and exciting things to do in life. However, to keep our planet on track, we need to face reality: Taking an airplane is just about the worst thing you can do for your personal carbon footprint. At Ledgy, one of our core values is to build a fair and sustainable future. (By the way, if you are an eco-friendly startup 🌎, apply for our 20% discount on Premium.) This is why, during our first company hackathon, we decided to build TrainTrack in 24 hours. Its mission is to keep our planet on track by making train travel cooler than flying.

Why Train Track?

TrainTrack.me helps you keep track of your train rides, similar to a loyalty program with an airline company. Moreover, you automatically participate in a leaderboard, where you can compare your scores with all the other users. Will you manage to beat Greta Thunberg? 😉

How do the calculations work?

  • Train routes and distances are fetched from the Google Maps API
  • Saved CO2 emissions are based on a reduction of 0.213 kg of CO2 per km compared to a domestic flight (source)
  • Saved costs are based on a price of $200 per ton of CO2 emission (source)
